[:1]The problem with this change is that there is no give and take, just take. If you want to take such a cripplling core mechanic that's been around for years, you must give them something to compensate otherwise the class will be ruined. On top of that instant rooting people, while you yourself are rooted, is now lost.
This doesn't just affect peels and uptime as people might think. It is a defense and offense problem.
*Defense problem Some kind of magic defense maybe. So while rooted they at least will not get destroyed. As it stands now ferals are easily killed by casters, their only defense previously was their offense. Being able to be on the caster putting pressure on them was the only way to prevent such absurd pressure on themselves.
In my opinion defense by offense is what made the class so unique and fun. Losing that, perhaps just defense option then.
Suggestion: a magic defensive cooldown of some kind, perhaps something similar to spell reflect without exactly copying spell reflect. Maybe shifting into bear or using barkskin gives you a few seconds of spell reflect, with appropriate cooldown
*Offense Problem I don't think they see the ramifications of lowering bleeds and mobility together. Nor do they understand that such mobility is the only thing allowing druids to get shred's off. With lower DoT damage and lower up-time a feral druid will have low damage constantly, possibly acceptable but really both shouldn't be implemented at the same time without further testing.
Then there is shred. Positional requirement melee abilities are reliant on mobility. Lowering mobility means that any1 with half a brain and a root will be able to prevent huge portions of Shred's damage. Which is now more apart of druid's damage.
Suggestion: remove shred's postional requirment. and/or give it a 5-10 yard range.
In conclusion:
berserk fear change, bleed change, and the loss of instant entangling roots on their own are possibly justifiable and balanced. But to add the loss of of root shifting to these without any kind of compensation is going to far.
Taking too much without any other compensation for defense and/or offense will make any team consider or even prefer taking another melee over a feral druid.
or simply revert the root shift change and leave the other nerfs
edit: yes i read miirkats post and mine is pretty similar. i had similar thoughts to his and i am suggestion them in my own way
