Feral DPS? [PVE]

[:1]It seems clear to me that Feral Druids are doing pretty well in PVP - in fact, perhaps a bit too well - but I'm wondering how they're doing in PVE. Are they competitive? I remember in Wrath the Feral rotation was one of the hardest to master. Is this still so?

Thanks for any (and all) input! :)
Being great at solo play does not mean ferals are doing too well in pvp.

As to pve, looking at the logs, feral dps is below average with DKs, locks, mages, and hunters doing very well.
pvp nerfs are hurting pve kitty right now.
This is a common problem in warcraft.
I was happy to see arguably the most complicated dps rotation finally doing competitive dps in Cata, but it seems that once again kitty is going to lag behind in pve.
The dps is good against single target in a largely stationary encounter, but on multiple targets, and with the nerf (and more planned to rip) kitty dps suffers greatly.

The larger problem of a pvp vs pve would be solved with a pvp only spec. A third spec that could only be used when in bg's and arena.

First off i dont think that feral is doing better then any other class in pvp its all about lvl right now if anything i think there are some other classes thatt have no problem killing us, and they nerfed our survivabilty in bear form like crazy when they reduced frenzied regen b 50 percent.

as for PVE, currently i am the top dpser in my raids. when we downed halfus two nights ago i ended at 25k dps (granted the boss does have a increased damage debuff). on the target dummy i can put out a steady 12 k dps, i am mostly in heroicblues and a few crafted epics. the main problem with feral dps is the HUGE ramp time it takes to apply all your bleeds and buffs and start doing dps. the rotation is still difficult to master but a bit more forgiving, the new feral charge helps a bit by giving u a free attack that adds combo points and cost no energy to start youre ramp time tho. however remmember that ull never be a rogue lol also feral dps is severly lacking when u cannot use shred, so in any fight that you must stand in front of the boss it kinda sucks , simply due to the fact that shred is important to help keeo youre rip time up AND does more damage then mangle so IMO i think we have to rely on being able to attack from behind wayy too much, we should be able to atack from any point but thats just me.
Also on multiple target fights, (which is the mojority of the fights) you will be basically useless , if i were u id just swipe spam so youre raid doesnt sub you out due to low damage on the meters feral cannot handle multiple targets at all.. its just too much ramp time and not enough energy
Thanks for the very interesting - and enlightening - posts. I was not aware that Feral Druids were already nerfed in PVP. They still seem to have really strong bleed effects, so I figured that they were not nerfed/hotfixed.

I plan on leveling this Druid as Resto PVE, but I'm still unsure of which spec I'd like to pick up for PVP. Feral is probably going to be the spec - I'll stick with it, even if it was nerfed too hard.
Interestingly ferals are not actually OP even in PVP, yes even in 2v2 where one would expect it to do best. They are not overrepresented even there and are underrepresented by the time you get ot 5v5

Hope ghostcrawlers looks at a few facts sometimes instead of just QQ. The ranking facts say feral is not magically godmode simply due to the abilities he listed in his latest posts..

A better question would be why has feral PVP ability been so over exaggerated?

Maybe it's the fact that Ferals WRECK people without resilience? And given that a lot of players have minimal - if any at all - resilience, maybe they see Feral as extremely OP? I don't know, that's just the impression I got when I ventured into my first BG as a PVE Priest. =p
Feral is top tier single target dps in PvE. Competitors should usually be Destro locks, Survival hunters, and Fury warriors.

Left out DKs since we don't currently have any DPS ones, so I'm not sure.

edit: rapid target swaping with reasonable hp feral doesn't suffer THAT badly, it suffers but you can cheat a little bit - basically on a fight like heroic maloriak you can just tab through mobs with mangle+rake, potentially rip if you double crit.
