I suspect NE Moonkin is already done

I suspect that the night elf moonkin graphic updates may already be done, but just not yet in beta:

At blizzcon, at one of the booths they were showing off new action figures for wow.
One of them was a big night elf moonkin, and it looked the same as the current in-game form, but with much sharper details.

When the action figure for Garrosh was made, the new in-game model was used for reference.
Now with the moonkin hatchling preview, we can see that the night elf hatchling is very similar in terms of style to the original moonkin.

I believe that the night elf moonkin graphics were updated sometime ago, and that they are waiting on the moonkin for the other races to be completed, along with perhaps some kind of barbershop color options.

just my 2 cents =)
Interesting post, Only hope that you're right :)
You and me both! =D
I was hoping the hatchling would be a mini-preview of the updated form. It's still adorable though.
That would be great if it's true! I'm eager to see a more refined Moonkin form.

gear good enough for starter raids?

hi, i have the full blue pvp set which i know isnt ideal for raiding but ive seen much worse (non heroic blues / greens) on people successful in raids now. they may be being carried, i dont know.

from what ive counted up im missing ~800ish master / haste which is a big help but is it a deal breaker at this point in game to not be able to down content. i did the tol barard boss and had didnt run out of mana till about the 4.5 min mark which was ok because of the 5 min enrage timer. our dps on the other hand couldnt do it.

please check my armory and let me know. im changing my enchant back to heartsong i believe. my int/spirit is on par or a little more from the BiS blue set i seen for pre raiding.

any and all info is appreciated! ty in advance!
Are you hit capped when buffed out of curiosity? It says 15.5% right now, but that could easily increase. be aware of hitting that cap.
im sorry, im in moonkin spec now but i raid as resto
Alright frankly you need to visit http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/969937135

Your gearing isn't great, and if you're looking to do healing in raids I would look to going into heroics first to get PvE gear first, but what strikes me most is actually gems/enchants. Most people tend to ignore the socket bonuses. You should start getting rid of the resilience gems and put in all spirit gems, even losing out on the resilience socket bonuses that are worthless.
The 316 trinket needs replacing pronto, go to a dungeon and pick up a healer trinket. Wowhead search for trinkets above ilevel 333 and look for something appropriate.

edit: your spec for resto needs some work as well, the one point in balance of power seems useless, and some other things like that. the guide I mentioned above has info on that too.
yes, im a pvp'er. im not specced for pve. im not gemmed for pve. its all pvp and good for it. i didnt ask if i would be the best, i was asking if its good enough to get by. i dont like raiding and dont plan on doing it consistently, just maybe once a week with a semi pug for something to do while not pvp'ing

LIving Seed update idea!

So Living Seed currently is a 3 point talent that places a seed on the target in which a Swiftmend, Nourish, Healing Touch, or Regrowth crit on. The seed blooms and heals the target for 30% of the total heal when the affected character is next hit.

This often for me is mostly overhealing or not healing at all, because most of the time the tank is close to full life, and dps are often not being hit anymore once the heal is in place.

My idea is that it is still a 3 point talent that places a seed on the target in which a Swiftmend, Nourish, Healing Touch, or Regrowth crit on. The change is, is that instead of healing for 30% of the heal being healed all in one hit, it creates a HOT on the target which heals for 10% of the heal over 6 seconds and then blooms for 10% of the total heal once the duration is complete.

Whats the reason? Well with our mastery relying on a HOT to be on a target to be in affect this gives a another HOT in our arsenal for our mastery to be affected by, thus making our mastery more desired. Also, this makes crit a more desirable stat as well. This may also reduces the amount of times rejuvenation is casted. Plus, since this talent is linked to Efflorescence... Could make Living Seed a much more desirable talent.

Why another HOT? As of Cataclysm, the 21+ second HOT Regrowth placed on the target has been reduced to a 6 second HOT which does a small amount of healing. As I have read on the forms, regrowth is not used as often as it used to be. Doing this would would somewhat make up for the lack of HOTs we have.

Why reduce the total to healing to 20% rather than 30%? Well, now that a HOT is placed on your target, you healing is increased because of the new mastery we have. So it just about evens out.

Im open for other ideas.
If you say this is a good or bad idea, please explain why.

Anyways, I hope this great potential of a talent gets a update. :)

WoW things have changed - oldie/newb advice

Obviously gonna need new gear and wondering which instances to heal or is pvp quicker to upgrade gear through.

THen I'll just have to find hotbar places for the new spells.
I recommend using the Random Dungeon LFG tool. While leveling, you get a blue "of the xx" afterwards. Questing in general is good for gear.

If you're already 85, do the quests that reward item-level 325 or 333 gear. That will get you to the point of almost being ready for heroics.

PvP is alright, if you like it, but resilience is completely wasted, and instead of getting spirit + haste on your gear, you just get one of the two (or even worse, crit).
Thanks,

I left before haste was even a stat so I'm only 65 and thanks for the tip. Looks like the dungeon search feature involves autotransport which should be handy at the moment.

As is the ability to spec into two rolls with a built in equipment mod particularly since you can't mix spec until 31 points which being demotted from cap I no longer have.

quite a different game from when I left and a long to do list from aquiring glyph's on.

Druid or shammmyy??

I am starting to play agian and im not totally sure on what to pick.. im all about dps and i love pvp. someone help.
Warrior!
I'm leveling a druid right now, and frankly I'd say Shaman. They're simply a lot of fun. Druid Moonkin DPS is wonky at best. I'm really hating this new balance bar that makes DPS'ing just feel weird, not fun. Feral tanking is REALLY challenging right now, though it can be done. And I cannot speak for Cat Form dps, but I've never liked it myself.

But you'll be the judge. When Cataclysm hits, I'm going full-bore Goblin Shaman and not looking back.
Feral tanking is REALLY challenging right now, though it can be done.

It's really not challenging at all.

Druid or gtfo.
Well, if you had asked a month ago, i'd have said Druid - cause we're blowing crap up in BG's right now (feral especially). In a week, though, when people start the rush to 85, the pvp (at least at end-game) is a relative unknown.

I'm fond of my feral druid. Always have been. Fun, flexible, fast.

But that's just me. It just depends on your playstyle.
Druids are designed for indecisive people. Go that route.
I'll be right there with ya... ALways wanted a Shammy, and am looking forward to starting something new
Level both obv
Edit: Irrelevant
Warrior!

OH wait I said that already.

Oops
hmmmmm i think im going to go with drood.. i would love to be able to stealth.. charge. i can tank... dps and heal thatll be fun.

i kinda want to go with a shamy for the mail gear... but druid sounds really fun with flight form

what is better dps feral or shammy melee.. or druid boomkin vs elemental shammy
Druid: Caster/healer that can use stealth and is generally very slippery.

Shaman: Caster/healer that mitigates damage with good armor.

Druid: Has a knockback that can hit you from 40 yards away.

Shaman: Has a knockback that will send you 40 yards, if you're sitting in the wrong spot.

Druid: Excellent pre-emptive healer, has a lot of crowd control. Lacks, but is not weak in direct heals.

Shaman: More of a direct healer, but mediocre in pre-emptive healing, has decent crowd control. Dispel heals its target!

Druid: Will give you a series of bleed effects in the first five seconds of the fight that will be fatal, even at full health, if you do not have a way to heal.

Shaman: Can make an attacking army 30% scarier.

Druid: Loves waffles.

Shaman: Does not dislike waffles.

Druid: Can use gathering professions and spec swap in flight.

Shaman: Your hearthstone is practically always available.

imo : feral, ele.

Cata Resto

Anyone else having a blast healing the new instances and watching dps kill themselves?

I actually went oom on a few boss fights and had to blow innervate and tol. So much fun!
Since I have no idea what you're talking about, no?
So many people are still used to wrath. I warned the group.. I wouldn't heal you due to stupid damage. So if it AEs and you stand in it and die..your fault.

So many dead rogues...so little time

Thinking of druids....

So ive recently returned for Cata, and last time i played was before BC (Nilla i think its called) and i have a small problem.

Ive always run healers and tanks, and in that i mean Warriors, Priests and Shammies.

Currently im leveling this guy which is great fun, but im looking for an alt to break up the grind.

He needs to be a caster and have some healing versatility, and ive always admire dthe moonkin form (im a little weird, all my warrior friends say so).

Anyway, i know you guys will be biased but would i be better off rolling another shammy or just going for the druid? its only a lack of metal armour thats put me off in the past (i dont care much for cat dps my rogue got boring).

thanks guys.
Try druid, you can fill out all 4 roles so you can mix and match.
Can you really say you've always done something if you haven't done it in about 4 years <_< !?

Also, you got 8 characters slots on god knows how many servers there are now, so just try one out, can't hurt nothing to just go dabble around for a few hours. You can get to level 20 in about 2hrs or less with the new system.
Well, im not just oncluding WoW in that statement.

Ill roll a druid se how i go, and ive noticed the fast lvling too :O

mana regen

are they really buffing druid mana? i was in a 2v2 as arms with a resto druid and we got a team of a resto druid and an arms warrior. it lasted 25 min because neither healer went oom, actually not true the both went oom every 15 sec and within a few seconds they had full mana again. i was able to do an average of 9.4k dps on the druid (when i wasnt rooted and fled from or cycloned the dr on one was almost up by the time the second wore off) and he didn't die. also feral druids (in duels) start in cat beat on you, go to their non shape shifted form heal themselves (for huge amounts of mana) then go bear pop their regen go back 2 cat nuke you some more and by that time they can heal themselves again (again for all of their mana for mediocre heals) and so on. i wasn't going to QQ because i saw the patch was going to rebalance everyone but when i hear their going to BUFF mana efficiency i wonder what drug crazed developer came up with that.
did i just hear wrong that their going to buff them or am i going to have to flip !%!#?
Paragraphs are your friend.

oops

Being the idiot that I am, I accidentally posted this in the wrong forums.

/cheesecake.
Its ok, warriors forums are prob flooded with tears anyways...

To My Troll Brothers

To the troll druid in cat form who I unexpectedly ran into while on the beach in the Hinterlands:

I sincerely apologize for laughing like mad for five minutes, while staring in shock. It's just that, well, you took me by surprise, and you're the first of your kind I've seen, and you have such a ... distinctive look.

I can only pray I become accustomed to such disconcertingly gaudy looks before I'm forced to face you in the arenas and battlegrounds, lest I be too distracted to fight properly.

Good luck questing in Azeroth, and welcome to the druid family.

Love,

Me.
What are the realm forums? anyone know?
"Oh, ya shoulda seen da look on dat night elf's face..."
They're at the bottom of the forums page. You have to select all realms, though, since "My Realms" shows absolutely no realms at all.
This obviously wasn't literally aimed at the troll druid I saw ... but instead to all of our new brethren. I was talking to my wife when this - thing - appeared on my screen, and I had to apologize for laughing suddenly and at great lengths. It was startlingly something. :)
If you haven't already, roll up a new troll druid and go talk to the first Druid trainer in their starting zone about how she came to become a Druid.
/wave

I guess people laughing at my cat and bear forms is an unforeseen advantage for rolling troll in PvP.

In any case I like em, and that's all that matters. :D
Ever been teabagged by a bright blue bear? You will be.
If you haven't already, roll up a new troll druid and go talk to the first Druid trainer in their starting zone about how she came to become a Druid.

I tried. I got halfway through reading and she WALKED AWAY.

Seriously, Blizzard needs to abolish the concept of NPCs who walk away from you while you are trying to interact with them.
*Wonders why the nelf is looking at me through binoculars*

Perhaps he just wants a closer look at my awesomeness.

OH NOES FOREHEAD LAZOR!!!

Malfurion's Gift

Wow...I was pretty amazed at just how much this procced omen of clarity. Dropping points from something to get this is highly recommended for mana problems with use of regrowth and healing touch on procs (as well as spamming lifebloom around in ToL for procs and using free isntant regrwoths as available). Hopefully with this and restoring all the gear I had reforged spirit --> haste on will solve the mana problems I had on certain ICC fights. It was only a couple fights that I actually ran OOM and it was generally when the boss was around 10-20%, and the main reason was being forced to spam rejuv and regrowth in fights like BQ to keep people alive, but I still hate going OOM and just watching positioning as I wait for mana regen. Rest assured though extra HoT ticks from 1016+ haste and 5% raid buff, you will be missed <3.
It's a great talent now that you don't have to spend 2 points in Fury of Stormrage (I think?) to get it.

I've never thought about spamming Lifebloom for the proc to caste Regrowth...is that worth it mana wise?
Well, you really don't have to spam LB at all. Just keep it up on the tank at all times, and you're golden.

The tooltip says "...each time you heal with Lifebloom...", which doesn't mean that you have to spam it constantly.

So, yes, it is worth it, mana-wise, since you can refresh LB with another LB (which is pretty cheap), or Nourish (cheap) or HT (not cheap).

I'm pretty sure that's part of the reasoning behind isntant regrorths and being able to use lifeblooms on everyone through Malfurion's Gift synergy. It's entended that we use lifebloom on as many people as possible to proc free instant cast regrowths. It's a nice emergency button to use with instant regrowths spams, but, as others often say, that causes druids to OOM quite quickly and will do so much more quickly in cata. The 1200 mana cost of regrowth is pretty steep so getting off multiple instant and free casts will save tons of mana alnog with the fact that lifeblooms spamming is very mana efficient makes it very worth it mana wise.

Edit: Hopefully in cata raid damage will be more tolerable and using lifeblooms with regrowths over rejuvs and regrowth spams don't feel so dangerious like it can in some ICC fights with intense raid damage.

Which spec?

I just got back into wow after an almost year long-hiatus. I was never a huge wow-head (My main is a druid only lvl 28) So now that i see that in the new cataclysm updates you are only allowed to spec in one specific area, i'm kinda at a crossroads.

Balance, Feral, or Restoration?

I liked both alot and somehow managed to do an equal amount of all three when i originally played and now that i'm only allowed to spec in one, idk which one to choose.

What do you guys think?
Dual spec is purchasable at level 30 now, so you can effectively switch between two specs on the field when you reach that level. Just pick the ones you like the most.
Feral is still the best soloing spec, but Boomkin isn't bad if you prefer being a caster. I'd only go resto if you felt like healing in the dungeon finder up to 85.
Yeah Morticia, i think ill stick w/ feral until lvl 30 at least,

but how do u purchase dual spec at lvl 30 Maybele?

Visit your druid trainer (Moonglade is probably fastest).

Rip bug?

I've been experiencing very low damage with rip, actually it goes up and down all the time, it ticks between 2k normal to 5-6k normal. I thought they were hotfixes at first but it just can't be hotfixes now. Anyone know about this bug, what triggers it and how to fix it if i happen to be bugged? It almost seems like it forgets about counting my attack power..
Number of things, trinket procs. On use trniket effects going away etc.
The same thing has been happening to me. I tried it without trinket procs too. The damage just randoms from time to time. Sometimes I get a really high crit around 20,000 then it does a 12,000 crit then sometimes only does about 3,000. I don't know what the problem is, but it seems to be bugged.
I've got no log program, but I have no trinkets that procs extra damage, this was tested on dummies and on world npcs, my lastest instance of that bug was against commander largo from tol barad. I just don't see how my rip can tick for 2k and then it ticks for 15-16k average crit on valiona and theralion in bastion of twilight.

Unheeded Warning

I picked this up today off the AH because the price was right. How does it stack up in the BiS list for feral?

Pvp-Resto Druid Help

Hey just wanted to see if anyone could help me with a few things about Pvping as a Resto Druid. I hardly PVP but I really want to get into it. So I was wondering if any experienced PVPers could give me some advice on how to PVP as Resto. I am also looking for a good spec for PVP. Any advice will be appreaciated and anyone who replies I thank you.
Deleted by Jellytíme
Cool thanks for some good tips. Any specific spec I should be using for Resto PVP?
Deleted by Callimari
Alright I'll look into that. Thank you for your help. Really appreaciate it.
Thanks man! I will. Really appreaciate all the advice. :)

Still confused

"As you may have heard before, we are moving away from PvP based on hard counters, where one class can be completely immune to the control mechanics of another class."

I wonder if blizzard realizes that in their quest to remove hard counters, they might just be creating new hard counters?

Sounds like mages will hard counter druids if PTR comes through as is.

Honestly.. has blizzard lost their ability of actually thinking?
Too much stuff going on...?

Make Haste Great.

http://wowthinktank.blogspot.com/2010/10/cat-cataclysm-cats-part-4-case-for.html

Sadly, this is about as good as I'm going to get without a simulator, but it roughly confirms reports from others about how well haste scaling and haste conversion is compared to other stats. This disappoints me; I want haste to be an awesome ability because haste is fun. Being able to do more things is more fun. Hitting harder, bleeds doing more, critting more often - these don't directly impact the rotation and ability to do actions like haste does. Sadly, haste doesn't look to be that great.

Haste is designed well, but the calculations do not give a large enough benefit.

Don't post with comparisons to Mastery or how bad Haste is right now. We know it's bad.

Post if you want Haste to be a viable stat to gearspec. To quote the above article again for emphasis, "Being able to do more things is more fun."

Buff the energy regen formula massively, or make bleeds scale with haste.
To quote the above article again for emphasis, "Being able to do more things is more fun."

To be perfectly honest - I've found exactly the opposite to be true.

A large part of the fun I've always found in our Physical DPS spec is the fact that we always have been resource limited - something that forces us to think a little about what we're going to do next.
Toss too much energy at a feral cat, and suddenly it doesn't matter if we screw up and blow all our energy on a badly timed bite - we'll fill up our bar fast enough to get that Rip back up before we miss more than a tick or so.

/agree. The reason I only play a Feral Cat is because I love the complexity of the rotation. Having to manage that low regen rate and make sure your uptimes are all seamless is what makes the class fun and exciting. If I wanted an unlimited resource to just mindlessly press 1, 1, 1, 2 I would reroll to a lol class. Haste is prefect where it is right now, a crappy stat that no one really wants and only has because the gear available to us has it.
I have a different take on this issue which I posted about here...

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/1020803625

To me the issue isn't the number in the database. To me it's the way those numbers are represented on screen. With the current set up, it's just really difficult to see what impact haste buffs are actually having for melee classes.

One way to fix this problem is "give us bigger numbers". But another way is to make the numbers that we do have more visually alluring.
Haste only affects the tick speed of damage over time spells. Haste does not affect the tick speed of damage over time abilities.

Feral Druid damage is ~50% Rake and Rip, which are damage over time abilities. Increased energy regeneration from haste barely improves a cat's dps. Other physical damage classes don't rely as much on damage over time. As a result, haste increases their damage by a much larger amount.

Haste will become useful when it affects the damage of Rake and Rip.
Mew should give you a fairly good idea as to how useful agility is for you.

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/969727226
i know feral damage is mostly bleed atm, but this is in part due to how effective mastery is.

to those who think that the rotation with a haste build would be more forgiving, you are forgetting that speccing into haste over mastery would mean that your bleeds are ticking for less, which would cause you to be required to make the most of your haste to keep your damage on the same level.

haste = more actions, less potency
mastery = less actions, more potency

out of curiosity & due to how OP feral is atm, i regeared to full haste w/ BM's Vivacity to get a sense for all the benefits from haste in pvp. the biggest benefit i have noticed so far that i didn't consider was frequency of OoC procs. back to back procs were fairly common, which made burst cp generation much stronger. if the energy regen was stronger, haste could be a very attractive stat, at least for pvp.

blizzard claims they want to give us meaningful choices, but right now there isn't one for feral gearing. it's stack agi, reforge to mastery, done. if anything, the fact that they gave us energy regen with such weak returns creates one of those "speccing traps" they are trying to avoid.
Yeah, haste is terrible for energy regen, and white damage is very poor which makes haste useless anyway. Its honestly the same for hunters, its all about agi, and high ap builds for higher instants.

moonkin dps with resto gear?

so I'm just wondering if anyone who would have more insight be able to tell me if using my resto gear as balance spec would be ideal or would I be nerfing my dps a bit? I mean being that I get hit from spirit and such I don't see it as being a bad idea but maybe i'm missing the big picture.

sorry if it seems like a dumb question but I've just been wondering if I'm doing it wrong so to speak.
No, it would not be ideal, but you work with what you have to.

Ideally, after you reach the hit cap, you would try to get items that have Sta/Int and two DPS stats.
If you are over the hit cap, you have wasted stats and are nerfing your DPS. I had something like 40% hit in healing gear on the PTR when I tried out a moonkin spec at level 80 in my resto gear, so that would be a lot of wasted DPS stats. Ideally you want to reach the hit cap and not go over.

Night Elf or Worgen?

Want your opinions, thanks.

Also a quick question- Can Worgen's ride normal mounts too, or just their run wild form ( or whatever TF it's called)
Worgen is best for cat, balance and resto specs because of the 1% crit bonus. Night elf is better for bears because of the 2% miss bonus.

And yes, worgen can ride mounts as well as use their running wild ability.
I like elf, I guess I'm still new to the worgens, so might take some time for me to warm upto them.

The answer is obvious. Shadowmeld -> Swift Flight Form.
Night Elves are good for cats too. They have a built in chance of not bein' seen as much while Prowling. Combined with the Feral Tree, and they're even HARDER to see while prowling, thus allowing an easier time to sneak up on Mobs and annoying PvPers! Wisp form is also a nice way to recover when crap does happen, less time spent running to your body, the faster you can get back into the game. That's where their active ability comes in handy, as Shadowmeld is a light feign death... or maybe more like an extend Fade. Just hit it, wait 'till combat's over, then run for your dear life, something druids are really good at.

Worgen, like they said, are good all around, with their extra crit bonus. If you enjoy skinning, which you can do while shape-shifted, you just got a free 15 points and only take 0.5 seconds to skin now. Less time skinning means quicker profits and quicker time getting back into the quests. Their active ability is useful too, just get into cat form, Sprint, when that's over, Darkflight, and by then, you should be well out of combat range and can poof yourself into your Flight Form and run for it.

I'll admit, I like the idea of Worgen better, as you'll never need a mount with Running Wild, so it makes the whole feral-animal-lover-thing work better. Night Elves have the extra lore backin' up their druidness, though, so it's a hard one to decide...
If you care about looks, Worgen do have the better-looking forms. Also, Darkflight is pretty useful in some situations. Say you're kiting someone and need to heal up but can't afford to lose travel form's speed. Darkflight and HoT yourself up.
I use shadowmeld too often to give it up. Using it as an interupt and to drop pets off me or to get to flight form. If you use shadowmeld a lot it's worth it. But wargon seem to have more obviously good racials.
Worgen druid just seems kind've stupid to me. Hell worgen anything non-rogue/warrior seems stupid to me, but druid especially.

"Hi I've been cursed to lose control of my higher functioning self and morph into a savage animal likely to rip your face off. The only reason this doesn't happen is because I've mastered some zen buddhist crap and I can wuu-sa myself into a tranquil state of not ripping your face off. Oh by the way the night elves felt bad and trained me to be a druid and I can shift into all sorts of other fun animals even though I am STRUGGLING with not going all wolf mode and ripping your face off right this very second"

It just doesn't work for me.

That and shadowmeld is awesome for wipe prevention.
meld is great for wpvp due to sff, but with most wpvp at cap taking place in north / south tol barad, this limits the usefulness outside of levelling. it is still great for resets when you have no dots or drop combat to mount regularly.

darkflight has saved me many times in tol barad & elsewhere. it's almost always on cooldown. caster kite while refreshing hots, then chain it to cat dash. i am still trying to find the best times to use DF offensively, mostly i use it against frost mage, or when focused in bear ( now that you can go bear -> bear without losing vengeance, shift-breaking w/ darkflight can land some pretty large mangles ).

also, running wild has such a low profile that it is the most advantageous mount to use in pvp ( imo! ).
I"m very tempted to go Worgen, but after having shadowmeld for years, I don't think I can live w/o it. Its a repair bill saver, Oh crap moment saver, and allows you to ignore random agro.
My boyfriend and I were going to level Worgen druids as a couple. I tolerated the female Worgen's burly man-walk with clenched fists long enough to experience Running Wild. While Running Wild is excellent, I just couldn't tolerate her walk. My boyfriend tried to convince me to stay Worgen because I'd be in some sort of form most of the time, but I couldn't be convinced.

I race-changed to a night elf, and am much happier regarding the aesthetics. Call me cliché and/or traditional, but I like my females to walk like females regardless of their broken minds and inner rage.

Confirmed a second ago. Didn't read anything about it in the patch notes to be fixed, and haven't seen another thread about it yet.

If this is WaI (which I doubt) it might be the enchant of choice for Feral(/DK?).

EDIT http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s185/Boinkman/Grounding.png
I mentioned that I was gunna do it the other day, but completely forgot. I enchanted my old weapon with avalanche while lvling (both enchanting & my toon) and for some reason I held on to it.

Moo
hmm thats pretty nice... how frequently does the damage apply with both bleeds, auto attacks, and moves? think it would be more ideal than landslide? (landslide is 2k ap proc right?)
AGI > Landslide. But Avalance might be better then AGI in higher rated games (when you don't want that cyclone to be grounded). I will never have to play those games though :D

[Resto] Haste Vs Mastery (again)

Sorry to create duplicate threads, but the Resto threads are getting buried by Feral PvP anger. Anyways, I read a bunch of stuff around the web telling me to seek Mastery after 915 haste, and others (including reputable Druid on this server) are saying to stack haste like we did in Wrath.

Has anyone mathematically figured this out? I personally went to Mastery, but with our latest Rejuv hotfix I'm going to go back to raid healing. What is the benefit of haste after the 915 benchmark?

pvp items decreasing dps?

ok i am a druid who was using the staff engraved gargoyle femor i switched it with a arena dagger with a ilevel of 264 and it increased my spell power by like 400 and it seems to me that my dps decreased my hit is fine and i also have a offhand to use with the dagger my questin is does using pvp items for dps when not in pvp lower your dps? it seems to me that with the dagger my dps decreased by like 2k which makes no sense since the dagger is like 3 times better then my old staff does anyone have any idea why this may be?
Your dps decreased for some other reason, PvP items do not lower your damage when not in PvP.
do you have any idea why my dps might be lower
Umm first off did you replace a lot of items about the same time, cause I seeing you without any chants on some stuff. I would not think a dif of 30 haste would matter at all much. The dag has the better dps stats. Must be something in your rotation, I see you have mixed the resto t10 and the bal t10 but still that isnt the problem, not if you are saying you lost that much dps.
I think you have a bugged damage meter, 2k dps loss is tremendous, and not accounted for in any of the gear changes you could have made.

I would remove w/e addon you are using to read damage and get the latest version. I personally like skada very accurate.
i wasnt using a addon i tested it n a dummy and most of my items have enchants and that shouldnt make a huge difference if a couple dont have enchants and i only replaced my weapon also the shoulderpads i baught on accident lol and my rotation is fine also i havent switched anything different from when i was using my staff
How are you getting dps numbers..like what are your before and after.

And when you put the staff back on does the dps go back up...cause this is strange, unless you had a very high lat or lag spike at the time you tested
when i put my staff back on my dps goes back up with the staff on my normal damage is like 6 to 7k and whith the dagger my damage is like 4 to 5k somtimes 6k
lets look at the items..

It just doesnt make sense
Is your hit rating capped?
ikr lol thats what i said
Well im not seeing it..im sure someone will point something out, but for me the only thing I would think is its a fluke and your meter was off. But you said you didnt use a meter so I am stumped as to why you have a 2k dps loss.
You know I was just wondering if maybe stat scaling on the staff are wrong err bugged maybe its giving way more sp haste ect than in the tool tip.

That or the dag is giving less than the tooltip...hmm I may have to dig my old staff out of the bank and see, I hope I still have it
i wasnt using a addon i tested it n a dummy and most of my items have enchants and that shouldnt make a huge difference if a couple dont have enchants and i only replaced my weapon also the shoulderpads i baught on accident lol and my rotation is fine also i havent switched anything different from when i was using my staff

Not using an addon? You were either using an addon, using something to analyze a combat log, or trying to manually compute dps from some form of combat log either in or out of game. All of these can result in errors. Honestly this looks like a bad attempt at trolling people, if it isn't most anything that is computing your dps for you will let you look at some of the details. Some things to look for: DoTs being less of your dps due to lower uptime, any misses indicating your hit is not in fact fine, difference in partial resists (both were on the same level dummy, right?), and other massive differences in dps composition - dps loss from gear tends to affect everything relatively equally, while differences in what you do while testing won't. I'm very inclined to believe that it's a difference in what you did, as it takes a ton of gear to result in 2k dps, while doing things differently can easily do something like that.
lol im not trying to troll people... yes same dummy and my hit has a 0.00% chance to miss on a level 83 raid boss
idk maybe i am imaging it but i swore it looked like i was doing less damage :/
How can you tell how much damage you are doing if you are not using some sort of addon to track it?

Looking at the floating combat text or scrolling through your combat log isn't really going to give you a very good sense of what kind of damage you are doing.

i know but i thought since with the staff if im doing 6k to 8k and with the dagger im doing like 5k to 6k then my dps must be lower with the dagger
But how do you know how much dps you are doing if you are not using a mod like recount?
Sigh.
This man is a champion of truthiness.

Efflorescence

I love the ability but I feel it should be pink rather than green, flowers are supposed to be growing and the whole thing about flowers is they aren't green.
the parts of the plant that supply nourishment (aka life) are green and brown though. and there are little fluttery flowers or leaves of other colors besides green in the air. plus pink would be pretty annoying on the eyes after a while :P

you are correct though, in the fact that efflorescence is the act of a plant flowering. it can only do so by being supported by the nourishing mechanics of plant life, aka chlorophyll, mineral nutrients, water and CO2 ;)
It's leaves. Druids are about leaves. Tree form is...a tree. Plus not all flowers are pink. It's pretty leave it be.
Bright pink is not as pleasant as bright green on the eyes. I vote nay.
I'm rather fond of the green. Not just because it's my favorite color, but like Katlmoo said... Green is easy on the eyes as opposed to pink. :3

Who all is going Worgen Druid?

I know I am. I actually deleted my 70 NE druid in anticipation (had to free up a character slot). Got the heirlooms, got the glyphs, bags... everything lined up.

I couldn't be more excited.
I might roll another druid as worgen just to have one.
Troll Druid with a maw-hawk!

Though, i still don't get the "Darkflight" ability for wargens....is it just another Dash? (40% speed increase for 10sec with 3min cooldown)
I will keep this druid NE and I wont make a Worgen druid... I will however make a Troll druid because I want to experiance their new introduction zone...
Though, i still don't get the "Darkflight" ability for wargens....is it just another Dash? (40% speed increase for 10sec with 3min cooldown)

Yes, it's just like Dash.

Well, it was just like Dash. Now it's like ... Slow Dash.
<---

never liked being a night elf D: no offense to people who do.
Would be cool if worgens were wolves instead of cats as a dps aspect.
Nope, staying cow. Worgen girls run like retards.

The electric slide is super terrific! It's my favorite dance in the game. :)

BTW, this is the best thing I have read, EVER.
I haven't decided yet, I'm torn between NE and worgen. I'd switch to Worgen in a heartbeat, but I like NE racials. Shadowmeld has saved me from death more times then I could count (in raids and everything lol), and the +2% dodge is nice and so is the increased stealth speed.

Worgen 1% crit is also sexy, but aside that their racial's suck. The slow-dash is meh (was nice at 70%, but would be OP in stuff like WSG).
+2% dodge is nice and so is the increased stealth speed.

?
Eww, no. I hate alliance.
+2% dodge is nice and so is the increased stealth speed.

We got a racial update

Night Elf

* Shadowmeld : Activate to slip into the shadows, reducing the chance for enemies to detect your presence. Lasts until cancelled or upon moving. Any threat is restored versus enemies still in combat upon cancellation of this effect, 2 minute cooldown.

* Quickness : Reduces the chance that melee and ranged attackers will hit you by 2%.

* Wisp Spirit : Transform into a wisp upon death, increasing speed by 75%.

* Elusivesness: Reduces the chance enemies have to detect you while Shadowmelded or Stealthed and increases your speed while stealthed by 5%. Faster stealthed speed added in Cataclysm

* Nature Resistance : Reduces the chance you will be hit by Nature spells by 2%. Changed to Nature Resistance (1% per level) in Cataclysm
Why race change or delete your current druid? I am going to make another one.
I'm going to train a worgen druid up to 20 or so, and then if I like it better than NE, ill just take a paid race change.

Im still excited to see the worgen starting area.
I know I am. I actually deleted my 70 NE druid in anticipation (had to free up a character slot). Got the heirlooms, got the glyphs, bags... everything lined up.

Your not the only one that needs more character slots. :)

Ya, it's hard to beat those racial's for a feral druid

We really need to use a glyph slot fix this?!

Naw just the only one on the forums posting. All the others are busy oogling their new tree.

I personally feel the top needs work, the proportions are off. Maybe if the face was in-set instead of embossed.

Or maybe if there was more branch aspects to the upper foliage :) They just look ready to tip over and not what I expect a tree person to be.
I think I'm the only one that actually likes how it looks.

Ditto :[
When I first used ToL when the new model was available to spam wrath on some heroic boss, I essentially thought "omfg what is this hideous ridiculousness?"

But now I love karate-chopping wraths at mobs. Or frantically waving tree-hands to heal. The proportions could use some work but I like it. You two are not alone!
Here comes more tears!
I think I'm the only one that actually likes how it looks.

i think it looks alot cooler than a twig
if old treeform tears weren't salty they would be the perfect nourishment for my new tree form.
I actually enjoy the new look, it gives off a more "Druid-y" feel to it imo. It resembles more of the actual Treants used in Lore and throughout the game.

Worgen Flight Form non-existant??

Just recently race changed to Worgen and it seems my bear and cat form have changed to Worgen forms but my Flight Form is still Night Elf flight form. Anyone know why it has not changed?
Just a bug, that's all :P. Just one of those things that you have to wait on.
yeaaa I figured so...that's pretty annoying tho flight form was the one I was most interested in seeing!
Troll flight form is still the tauren one as well. I'm assuming they just haven't implemented them yet.

Blood in the Water

Anyone else noticed this talent being a bit buggy? Sometimes when I FB below 25%, Rip simply doesn't refresh. I can't quite figure out why, it doesn't seem to happen at any particular time left on Rip.
Yeah Blood in the water is annoying. I'm thinking of dropping it for infected wounds for PvP utility. If used correctly, it amounts to an average of 3.4% extra dps on raid bosses. But I often find myself reapplying rip <25% out of habit. It would be a lot less bad if it were like <40%.

Don't Nerf Berserk

From what I'm reading about upcoming class changes, you're planning to remove the immunity to fear effects when feral druids use berserk. Blizzard, berserk doesn't need a nerf.

It's an immunity to fear that lasts 15-20 seconds depending on whether or not you're glyphed, and has a three minute cooldown. If anything, it needs to be buffed because we're immune to fear, but not to horror effects. What is the difference? Not much, but they both send you running and you lose control of your character.

Though I will grant you that our bleeds are insane and since they can't be dispelled, I will agree that they should be nerfed "a little bit", but not a whole lot. But just leave our berserk ability alone.
Idk why they are nerfing berserk the only thing op about feral druids are the dot ticks because of the mastery and how much it stacks with bleeds. I think you guys need the berserk immunity and doesn't seem like a real problem to keep it.
Nerfing Berserk will turn us into an automatic win for warlocks in the arena. It will be Fear and drain life spam ad nauseum. Rogues have Cloak -- we will have nothing after spending our trinket on Death Coil.

And will I be able to send my reforging bill to GC after they nerf bleeds again, making Mastery a worthless stat for us? I'm already used to trying to avoid the Mastery stat on my shadow priest, so I know how to do it. I just don't like how much it's going to cost me to get rid of the Mastery this toon currently carries.
I hope that berserk at least keeps the removal of fear as an option. I use it in PvE and I would hate for another PvP fix to affect my PvE.

And I love PvP, don't get me wrong. But, this game is 90% PvE, and I like having that fear breaker when I need it.

Wrist???

Just trying to find out why there are only 2 346 level bracers in the entire game for resto or balance druids, and there are no epic. I mean every other class can get epic level wrist. Yet the bracers i need are from trash mobs in Lost city, and they never drop. I just dont understand why this is the only class that cant get epic wrists. Can someone please give me some insight.
The ones from lost city don't exist. No, they literally are not in the game.

There ARE epic caster bracers, from Chimaeron.
Well I have never seen them drop in Lost City(333 or 346). I have a few guildies that have the 333 version. I have personally never seen the 346 on anyone. As far as Chimaeron dropping caster "leather" bracers, could you please provide a link because the only ones I have seen are the mail caster bracers.
Nevermind, I found the leather bracers on wowhead, for future reference Atlas Loot doesnt have the leather bracers listed as a drop. But can anyone confirm whether the 346 Oasis bracers drop in heroic Lost City.
You would be looking for these I believe

http://www.wowhead.com/item=59451
When I saw the thread title, I thought this was gonna be an emo rant for some reason... :D
just farm up Armbands of Change.

and reforge for spirit.
Yep, get Armbands of Change from the second boss in BRC. It's probably the best bracers you can get fairly easily aside from, say, the PVP bracers made by Leatherworkers.
Have actually been trying to farm up either pair. Just not having any luck so far.
:) was on the verge of screaming at someone if I saw another damn wand dropping of that boss.

Druid Tree Form

How can you make a form into a cool down spell? This change has basically made me set my favorite class aside and not touch him since the patch. It almost made me stop playing wow altogether and complete disable my account and stop paying. This is one change that needs to be reversed.

wrong forum, you want the suggestions forums

Please calm down and breath. They have already said that you will be able to glyph into the spell and remove the cool down.

I don't think that's entirely correct.

I believe that there will be a Minor Glyph available that will turn you back into the Treant, but I don't think it's going to remove the cooldown.

Regardless, I'm actually happy with it, because it means I get a chance to use all of my lovely shapeshifting food and trinkets in a raid.
The new forums don't have a suggestions forum. However, since you have a class issue, you would want to cry in the druid class forum or the Healing forum (since you have a complaint about tree forum).

That said, tree form is going to be a cooldown from now until forever from now. :)

Yeah, the glyph will restore the current Tree form look only. It still stays a cool down.

I like it as well, but that's mainly because I didn't like tree form. Now if only they would make Moonkin optional, and I'd be a happy druid.
The druid tier 11 is really, really really pretty, with neat graphic effects. It is probably the 2nd or 3rd ever druid set that I didn't hate.

This as well. Tier 7.5 was beautiful (and I am going to keep my set forever).

Tier 4 and tier 6 were also pretty good.
Meh I'm a Lock what do I know?

/nood
All i have to say is, I LOVE NOT BEING A TREE ANYMORE :D
Now when cata hits i can be a Human or a worgen and if i get bored of those (need the Tol).. I can be a tree for 30ish sec :D

How can you make a form into a cool down spell?

There are plenty of characters outside of WoW that have a temporary (more powerful) forms. Just think, Hulk, Mr Hyde, even TMNT ended up with temporary dragon forms at the end of the series. Druids are no worse for the lack of a permanent heals form. Its just different. Move with the times and live a little. (or are u the 1st troll druid?????)
I'm very happy with this change, I personally never liked tree form. It never really looked good to me, and I always wanted to heal without it anyway.

Any time there was another tree or a ret paladin in the group I would just heal in caster.
Tree form is fine the way it is. Sorry to hear you hate it but i think having a "I WIN" button is pretty good. Only bad part is the armor reduction but it is what it is.

Pointless unless you never use the cool down. Shapeshifting was and is with the exception of heals a major class feature.

Mage/Mage vs Feral/Rogue

thanks for proving my =[

Druid Healing

I am a decent Druid healer for a while since pre BC and healing now for druids is not fun. It was understood that we were a help to raids for healing everyone and helping out but now its more only tank healing and raid healing on the side. I feel many druids feel the same. The change is fine but really it took all the fun out of it. Blizz I hope you read this one. If you dont feel the same more power to you, I just dont have fun like before on my druid.

pvp items for resto pve?

I realize that the resilience on the pvp items ends up screwing up the stat itemization, but there are still pieces with good amount of intellect and spirit and as long as you still have decent haste, mastery, and crit from your other gear. In particular, the drop gods have not been kind to me, so I'm looking at wrists and boots.

Boots
Bloodthirsty Gladiator's Footguards of Meditation or Bloodthirsty Gladiator's Footguards of Alacrity (haste instead of spirit)

Wrist
Bloodthirsty Gladiator's Bindings of Meditation or Bloodthirsty Gladiator's Bindings of Prowess (mastery instead of spirit)

I'm trying to keep my haste at or above 9.53% (1221 Haste rating) for 5-man heroics, so I might favor one set of boots over another depending on reforging and other gear pieces I have equipped.

Also, the main reason I decided to look at the pvp items is that like anyone regularly doing Tol Barad now, I'm drowning in honor and need to dump it into something useful. Suggestions on other pieces would be welcome.

I'm using Lissanna's gear list as a starting point for resto and balance PvE gear.

http://www.restokin.com/caster-druid-85-pre-raid-gear/
I also ended up getting Bloodthirsty Gladiator's Relic of Salvation as it was a decent upgrade for my older relic.
Well after multiple Tol Barads today I went ahead and just got the wrist, feet, and relic and have moved onto an agility set since there doesn't seem to be anything else jumping out at me and nobody responded :)

dual spec question

I am currently feral and i got dual spec. Im trying to decide wether to dual spec into balance or resto, or get rid of feral and go balance/resto, any suggestions from the druids on which i should go with? how is balance? is balance good to lvl with? and can healing with resto be fun or is it boring?
if you plan on levelling by dungeon finder, keep a feral spec so that you can tank for the insta queues. for questing, resto isnt as good and it takes longer to kill stuff, boomkin and feral seem to be about even for that.
Feral for soloing/PvP and Resto for dungeons/if you want to try healing bgs. That's what I did.

Boomkin works as well, but due to mana, Feral is considered faster.

Also, don't try to heal dungeons in feral DPS gear. Get some good leather/cloth items for your level with intellect/stam/spirit.
Up until 80 - go with a bear build and a mix of bear/kitty glyphs. Quest as feral kitty, do dungeons as bear (or even as a bear in a kitty suit - it's competitive DPS prior to 80, unless the other DPS in the group are *really* good).

Use your secondary spec for either resto or balance.

After 80, if you do kitty a lot, you should probably go ahead and devote a spec to it along with a set of glyphs. Unless you want to carry around a lot of dust to change glyphs all the time (which is expensive past level 80). And eventually, you'll probably want a set of kitty gear, or at least enough pieces that aren't reforged to Dodge so that you do good DPS.

Stam on our tank gear come cata?

So with the nerf to our stam while in bear form it raises the question, will stam on leather gear/rogue gear carry enough stam for us to match other tanks 85.

I know cata is going to be all about avoidance now as mobs/bosses will hit for less but more often or something like that, but i cant help wondering will we be at a disadvantage HP wise to other tanks because we use dps gear to tank?

1 last thing, anyone else have everyone's toon pic on the left side all blacked out?
Toon pics have been blacked out for a while. IDK if there is a beta forum, but anyone on beta could tell you how HP matches up at 85, and we'll know soon enough.

Yes.

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/1204770768

what to socket?

i was wondering what i should socket for resto pvp
i have heard int+haste, int+spirit, int+mastery
please post your thoughts and ideas

is there a guide for moonkin pvp somewhere?

for low-mid levels? or is it just a completely pointless spec like I've been reading.

my main issue really tho seems to all the warriors stunning/silencing me while they take half my health before i can move again, followed by a stun on a separate cooldown. and the various other silences but it's mostly the stuns.

Druid Flight Form problem

Hiya!

I recently hit level 60, so I ran to buy the Flight Form from the druid trainer in Stormwind. I got it, and it gave the achievement 'Into the wild blue yonder' - but I never bought the Expert Riding Skill, and when I go to the flight trainer in Stormwind, the options of getting it doesn't show. I can't fly using the Flying Form.

I only have up to Wrath of the Lich King, and I haven't tried flying in the Outland yet.

Does anyone know what might be going on?
In order to fly in Azeroth, you have to get a Flight Master's License: http://www.wowhead.com/npc=43769
The option of getting the License isn't available to me. I talked to the Flight Master and she didn't give me the option.
Do I need Cataclysm?
You need cataclysm to fly anywhere other than northrend and outlands. You can't buy the skill without cataclysm.
Thanks very much. :3

Feral druid PVP spec please!!

PLEASE..thank you

Could we get our new talent for AoE ER back?

Title sums it up. Without the glyph for it to be instant, is it really so OP?

Cat PvP rotation

Greetings and (#)'s to all.

I am currently a Balance Druid, but am interested in adding Cat as a secondary spec for Cataclysm.

My big question is...what is a standard rotation for kills? Mostly for Rated BGs, but maybe some Arena Play eventually...

Whats the big difference between PvE and PvP rotations?
PVP you are trying to fit in some situational CC's and such whereas unless the specific fight calls for it, you would just rip everything and squeeze in an FB every now and then.

Big thing, dont use and FB unless you can get the kill, always rip at 5 points and do your best to put as many dots on the target as possible. Generally I will stealth, stampede, pounce, ravage, mangle, rake, (if still not at 5 points get to 5 points) then rip. At that point, if you can stay behind your target try and shred as much as possible over mangle, but as you are learning it may be easier to just mangle till you get the hang of it. Other than those two make sure that you maintain rake and rip as much as possible. Of and squeeze FFF somewhere in there early on as it will not only just help you but also help others attacking the same target.

I would suggest for PVP you stick the two points into giving you an instant 3 stack FFF as you dont want to waiste precious globals trying to get the full debuff.

If you need to stun Maim is available and I would try to use that in there if you are going against a healer type class or trying to keep someone from running away. Generally I am able to do my first rotation to rip and then if its a healer my second rotation I will prob try to hit up a maim, If you are able to build point fast enough you should still have rip ticking and they will be sitting still eating all that high damage.

Also, you have predator swiftness, so make sure that you are using that to cast things like a heal, cyclone, or roots. Normally you dont want to get caught in caster form as you receive no damage reduction. (like when you are stunned in cat form you take 30% less damage... stunned in caster = screwed) So cast your instant cast spells and go back to kitty.

There are a bunch of tools and all are pretty useful so make use of them but the standard rotation for damage is pretty much similar to PVE.

A tip for melee classes is to make good use of kiting them, since you can put bleeds on them and then run away while they still take damage do so, casters hate it when you are in their face make good use of stampede and skull bash to keep the distance closed and skull bash when talented is pretty evil to casters.
Kitties still get 30% DR while stunned?
I know the talent was removed, so is it part of the specialization or something?
Zetliam is misinformed. Cat has no talent/specialization to reduce damage taken while stunned anymore. If we're still taking less damage while stunned, its a phantom talent or bug
oh, my mistake thanks for clearing that up. I forgot that was a big push with the new expansion, to practically get rid of all the damage reduction talents for pvp cases.

Or barkskin? which is usable while stunned..
PVP has no rotation the skill comes into play knowing what moves to use when.
A rotation will not tell you to skullbash that flash of light
A rotation will not tell you when you should maim to break a heavy DPs off a healer.
Play, learn, find out what fits best for you.
Honestly bro, aside from your opening moves (from stealth), rotation doesn't really apply in PvP.

This doesn't help at all. Although PvP IS all about situational awareness, there's still a basic form of feral rotation. You need to get the mangle on the target first to take advantage of the 30% increase to bleed damage. You also want to get a rake up before you shred to increase your shred damage. Making blanket comments that don't help the OP kinda makes the thread pointless.
rake, shred / mangle, rip, then kite away like a wuss and let the bleed does the rest and collect kill, so much skills involved for feral pvp

if you fail at cat pvp at this stage then you might as well roll mage for about same skill level mindset

BTW, this is incorrect. Get a mangle on the target first to increase bleed damage....looks like you need to roll a mage if you're taking your own advice.

Cat pvp is feral charge - pounce - ravage - mangle - rake - rip - dead usually or close to it.
Glyph of Entangling Roots. You should not be blowing predatory swiftness on roots.

I only didnt mention this since there has been some discussion still on glyphs and such for ferals. Although I think I am starting to lean more toward grabbing this one over my current setup.

if you fail at cat pvp at this stage then you might as well roll mage for about same skill level mindset

Its still very easy to fail at cat pvp, bad spec, bad gemming, not knowing that mastery is so OP (which is kinda whats giving us the faceroll right now), plus I did mention that situation will dictate some of the other things you do, but if you are not focusing on anything other than damage or you have time to fit in all in, I was trying to give a rotation to focus in on. Not everything dies in two seconds in a BG btw, you still have to be smart about pallies, and all the other healer classes still will at least last past the nuke and will require a little extra to finish them off, hence the suggestion on the maim or skull bash to interrupt and keep them from casting.

Mangle already increases Shred's damage.
My opener on Warriors, Warlocks, Hunter, DKs, Paladins (providing they do not trinket and let me get my dots on)

Stealth -> Feral Charge -> Pounce -> Ravage -> Mangle -> Tigers Fury -> Rake -> Rip

Your dot will tick for maximum possible damage at that point, then shred for also maximum shred damage (squeeze a FFF in there)

Mages, Rogues require different approach which is highly dependent on the situation
you shouldn't feral charge before opening vs hunters.

Agreed, my bad, hunters, ele shammies i usually would save the FC.

FC:C > pounce > mangle > TF > ravage > rake > rip

I will have to test that out. Would the TF last long enough to get buffed rake and rip in that rotation?

Lower Level Ferocious Bite Bug

Hello,

Ferocious Bite at lower levels looks bugged, its cost is below 35 energy (at my current level it costs 26 energy) and however the icon highlight at 26energy, as if it was usable, I notice I get some "not enought energy" errors until I get to 35 energy. (not sure if it is using 26 energy but only enabling it at 35 or if its cost is wrong at tooltip)

Regards
its 26-35 energy read it and i think its based on combos
Yeah I had noticed that earlier too, I'm not to sure what is causing it..

If that's really the level of damage they want Swipe at, there is nothing we can do about it. They've seen the numbers.

I just want to know WHY it hits for so little, and is trained at 36.
apparently they are serious about re-introducing CC to 5-mans. Aka, the dont want any tanking class chain AoE pull/tanking
Why are other tanks AoE abilities kept much stronger than ours then?

We get another "swipe" that adds a bleed at 81. Also on a six second cd (alternate them for an AOE every three seconds.)

Also, I just pulled up recount for whatever the last random instance I tanked was--my swipes hit for avg 1080, avg crit 2200 with 58% crit. So your gear is about half of what mine is. And I stopped raiding in March.

if thrash is actually a viable AoE, it will just replace Swipe on our bars because it isn't worth the GCD right now. there's also additional issues with having our only useful AoE ability trainable at level 81 and not, you know, level 20.

you can armory me for my gear, i used full dps gear for that screenshot

[citation needed]

Getting a 2k crit in ICC or 2 weeks ago doesn't count.

Im in full T10 (10-man, i know) but my swipes are hitting target dummies for 490, critting for 1K. 530/1.1k with Enrage.

So i decided to take off all my gear (except 2 piec tier 10) and hit the dummies again....
250 a hit. Which means going from 1545 AP to 4713 we get a whopping 250 damage done with our swipe. Very pathetic indeed.

BTW my swipe says in the tooltip that it does 960 damage, which is almost double what im hitting for, meaning that mobs apparently have 50% damage reduction from armor according to "swipe math"

There is no way your swipes are hitting that hard in a heroic unless you are somehow keeping vengence close to cap. In average ilvl270gear (cat gear), my swipes hit for about 650/1300. Against a level 1 critter in org, it just crit for 1800, with 6100ap.

Base Swipe damage on an unarmored target at level 80 is 128.

AP coeff is 0.114.

The level 80 target dummies have a ton of armor.

Actual damage against an unarmored target will be 83% of the TT damage. TT damage does not account for armor.

A very scary bear-y

My bear form frightens me. I look rabid.

The cat form is cool - looks fierce, yet not crazed.

Seeing pictures of the models was one thing, but the first time I shifted into my bear, I was horrified. If I saw me in the mirror, I would run the other way!

bg heals

Hey, I want to lvl a pvp healer through bgs and stuff..

can anyone let me know what the new op healer for bgs are from 1-80

disc priest, holy priest, resto drood, holy pally?

Thanks
Any will be fine, play what you enjoy. I'd probably say Paladin or maybe Shaman for survivability though, they can probably survive through a Rogue the best, but if you stay on top of gear it won't matter what class you are - you'll dominate.

I pocket heal someone I'm levelling with and I own it up in BGs, always topping the heals and having a great time.

Devs... You've killed this class

Okay, so I've been playing druid for 6 years.
You've taken away EVERYTHING that made playing a druid unique.

Feral=watered down rogue/war
Balance=GIMP mage

Resto= Our only remaining viable spec.

Pigeonholing us into resto, just like pre-bc.

Ferals used to have tools that made them much more than a watered down rogue/war. So, you took them away.
Balance used to have a unique talent set, abilities, and tools that made them much more than a watered down mage... So, you took them away.

You made balance offhealing nearly useless.
You're taking away feral's ability to close distance.
What's next blizz? Why not just take away our forms, delete the class, and say "Here, you get an 85 rogue/war/mage of your choosing instead"?

Resto is still good, but really blizz, the things you did to balance in bc were great, now you're reversing that.
Ferals used to have the massive hp pools & armor that no other tank could possibly achiev, you took that away & gave us "new" tanking mechanics.
Feral dps differed from rogue in that our dmg comes from bleeds, but the PvP QQ's are leading you to nerf bleeds AND take away our ability to close distance.

I now play as resto, mostly that means I QQ'ed about my druid & have now rolled a warrior & warlock, the TWO classes that people HAVE ALWAYS QQ'ed about, yet for some reason have NEVER been hit with the nerfbat anywhere near as hard as druids.

Thank you blizz... Reverted back to the days of pigeonholing "Dr00d iz fer heelz".
You must not have read about that mushroom buff OP. :)

Actually, I don't find resto nearly as much fun as in WOTLK- the lifebloom nerf makes the spec a lot less fun IMO.

I've got several other toons I can play, so it's hard to find reason to spend much time at all on my druid. I've geared up for feral on my druid, so I'll probably just use him for world pvp and avoid mages like the plague.
I read about the mushroom buff... It's a pathetic answer to a REAL problem.

I barely touch my druid anymore, it's sad.
I play my lock and my warrior.

I have hope that blizz will bring druiding back to around where it was in bc, until then my druid is virtually useless. To me, at least.
You must not have read about that mushroom buff OP. :)

maybe we should be allowed to smoke em.

then after I get rooted the 2nd time because I blew my only breaker (trinket), at least I can die high...

I have hope that blizz will bring druiding back to around where it was in bc

Isn't it?

It feels like BC to me, except cats are actually welcome in Raids.

PvP's back to "resto or gtfo"

Bear Tanking post-Cataclysm?

Haven't seen many updates but has there been any word on possibly fixing Bear tanking in Cata since they seemingly made us squishy with the "fixes"? I agree Bears were pretty OP for current content and on the BETA tests, but IMO they overdid it quite a bit.
Beyond bumping our HP back up a tad bit...we're fine.
IMO the HP is fine, its just more noticeable with the nerf to Savage Defense, which seemingly makes Mastery have alot less value. Our mastery is now *expletive deleted* compared to that of a warrior for instance. Stealing some numbers from other forums:

Previously a level 85 bear would absorb:

Absorb = Attack Power * 0.65 (Base SD level) * M (Mastery increase, anywhere from 1.32 to 1.90 (32% to 90% increase))

and this has been changed to:

Absorb = Attack Power * 0.35 (Base SD level) * M

Note that this also reduces the effectiveness of Bear Mastery, as that benefit is multiplicative ("Increases the amount absorbed by SD by X%").

This is a reduction in the strength of our absorbs of 46%. This is also a reduction in the value of Mastery rating by 46%.

Additionally, due to the removal of procs from periodic criticals, Mastery was further devalued, by virtue of less frequent shields.

Some Napkin Math: Previously at 10k AP, and 0% Vengeance bears would see absorbs start in the 9k range, and max out around 25k at full vengeance. We would likely average something around a 19k shield in a single target, single tank scenario. Less with more tanks or vengeance losses during multi target fights.

Post reduction, same stats would yield a beginning shield around 5k, with a max shield near 12.8k. Likely averaging around 10k.

The following assumes:
1) Bear hitpoints in the 150k range, giving a 15k AP bonus at full vengeance.
2) Warrior Mastery and Bear Mastery of 15. (Base 8 + 7 from gear)
3) Boss hits in the 75k range. (Taken from Beta testing on Maloriak and Chimaeron)
4) Bear AP near 10k, prior to Vengeance.
5) Full rage scenario, where a bear never misses a Maul.

The follwing ignores:
1) The negative effect of multiple targets on an absorb mechanism (as opposed to block, which is fine).
2) Critical Block, and its benefits.
3) Drops in vengeance from tank swaps or fight mechanics.

A warrior with 15 mastery has a 38.75% chance of block, with 37.5% of those being critical blocks.

This means a standard block occurs at least 38.75% of the time. (This is with no shield block ability) These blocks will mitigate at least 33% of the attack, or in this case 22.5k damage (33% of 75k). Critical blocks will stop 45k damage and occur frequently, but we are ignoring this for now.

Calculating Savage Defense proc rate can be a tad confusing.

Savage defense has a 50% chance to proc off of attacks that happen at a maximum rate of 4 attacks every 4.5 seconds (3 globals + Maul.) If we are generous and assume this is 4 attacks every 4 seconds, and assume a slow boss attack speed of 1 swing every 2 seconds (Slow swing timer benefits Savage Defense), we can assume the following:

1 swing gives a Savage Defense probability of 50% * crit rate. Crit rate for bears in beta right now is hovering around 35%. 1 swing then has a 17.5% chance of causing an absorb.

In a 2 second swing timer, you will typically have 2 swings that can proc a shield per attack (because of the assumed 4 attacks per 4 seconds). This means you have a 31.9% chance of shield. (Probability math is funny, trust me here.)

This means a 31.9% SD rate.

So now we are comparing a 38.75% Warrior block mitigating roughly 22.5k to a 32% Bear Savage Defense, mitigating roughly 12k.

Keep in mind, Bear health was nerfed to fall in line with other tanks. Bear Form went from a 25% stamina increase to 10%. Additionally, armor was removed from agility, and bears felt this impact the most, due to large amounts of agility from gear.

The reduction of the co-efficient from .65 to .35, in tandem with the reduction in frequency of procs seems overdone. It siginificantly reduces the value of Mastery, which compounds the reduction in shield strength. It seems to assume full vengeance, which is very unlikely.

Does this mean that bears in Cataclysm will remain on the sidelines as an off tank to warriors as they always have been? The stamina nerf is understandable (it used to be our only survival mechanism before SD). But why the extreme nerf of Savage Defense?

Perhaps later gear will feature gobs of agility to overcome that problem.

Perhaps.

Savage defense was nerfed because at 85 bears were absorbing so much damage from it that blizz couldnt properly calculate the damage bosses do in general. Bears would survive where other tanks would practically get 1 shotted.

Since the new vengeance passive buff savage defense was absorbing large amounts of damage.

I think we'll see a reduction in overall boss Melee damage as a result of this nerf. I don't believe Block (and by extension Critical Block) is intended to be far and away so much better than everything else.

Both Masteries "should" (ideally) be fairly similar at T11 for damage reduction. Since Block scales on incoming damage, whereas SD scales on outgoing damage, it only makes sense to nerf the incoming damage on the first raid tier such that mitigation values are similar. From there you can hope that they climb in paralell as boss damage and outgoing tank damage increase.
Reduction in boss Melee damage won't fix it. It will simply make it so that bears CAN tank, but warriors will still be FAR better.

With diminishing returns bears will never reach the same amount of outright mit from dodge as warriors will from dodge + parry(assuming same gear level). SD was nerfed for the wrong reason. They needed to nerf druid HP but they nerfed them both because SD with crits was causing a massive shield buffer against damage, increasing bear EHP by 20k+, however since it was also our ace in the hole for damage mitigation that went out the window right along with it. The only way to fix it somewhat satisfactorily would be to increase proc rate drastically(double it in fact). However then they need to bump health pools back up a bit to give healers a bit more room on a bear since the bear getting hit 3-4x in a row is much more likely than on a warrior or even paladin, and the extra SD buffer is still halved. The bear hp boost doesn't need to go all the way back to 25% but 15 or 17.5% as a middle ground seems like it would be good to me.

EDIT: I should say that reducing boss melee damage wont' fix it unless they nerf damage a LOT. Which I don't think they should since it would be leaning toward making a lot of fights trivial again.
I think we're mixing an avoidance discussion with mitigation discussion.

Moreover, using the numbers quoted above by Opti, that incoming Melee damage is way high for the Tank HP quoted. That returns us to the days of ToC and ToGC which were utterly horrible. Actually worse since Healers will have to non-stop spam heal the tank, without the absurd mana regen they have now.

I don't know about you, but I think that not being able to take more than 1 unmitigated melee swing is a little absurd. I might agree with it if the boss has like a 4 second swing timer, but anything faster than that and you leave no room for any special damage abilities without outright instagibbing the tank (Hello Gormokk).
There are several things wrong with what they have done to bear, probably the worst of it is, it shows they are incapable of changing things from their side of the fence. To explain that let me put up this image for you, in game design there is a fence, on one side are the players and their powers, and on the other is the boss and the mobs powers. For those of you who have played games like dungeons and dragons and whitewolf you will follow this explanation best. If as a gamedesigner/master you find that things are not going the way you need them to you tweak your side, you dont take the character the player is using and warp his stats, thats just going to piss them off.

The reason I bring this up is because there is a ludicrously simply way to have fixed this problem and not have touched a stat on a single character. Double boss swing speed, cut boss damage in half, done, fixed, problem over. This because of the mechanics of savage defense a 1 point damage hit is enough to break it, so you double boss swing speed and you bypass super bear shields while still allowing it to be effective. It also does something they have been desperately, (with abysmal failure) trying to do sense the launch of lich king, create predictable steady damage. Their complete inability to modify their own game, even after warping it to their own design as radically as they have is what fills me with so much dread for the actual expansion. They say to us after every nerf, every breaking of our classes, every mechanic which makes no sense now, Dont worry we will fix it in cata, well so far they have proved only one thing consistently, if they declare one goal they will achieve the opposite.

This stamina nerf is going to hit bears really hard, because it drops our vengeance, which drops our savage defense value, and our healing from leader of the pack. Our leader of the pack is being cut in half in addition to loosing 20% of the value from our stam loss. And then our savage defense is being cut to about half its base value and loosing the ability to proc from our periodic criticals. So instead of making one tiny little change on their site they nerf every single mitigation mechanic bear has by basically taking it and cutting it in half, yes bears were supposedly strong, but what class can survive and across the board 50% reduction in all its mitigation's.
It is indeed the Apocalypse.

You mean Bearpocalypse.
I'm more comfortable with Bearpocalypses then Arachnapoclypses.
I dont think anyone knows anything post Cata.

Maybe Post WoTLK.
I honestly wouldn't worry about this too much. If bears are not the equals of other tanks then the stats can be tweaked upward again, particularly the Savage Defense nerf, which probably went too far.

But when will they fix it? Starting from wotlk, there have been a few times when one of the tanks was broken in a bad way for quite a while. I remember at one point warriors were in a bad spot where their hp was too low as was their effective health and they could get one shot pretty easily. I remember a point when death knights were like that as well. I also remember when death knights threat was way too low where most dps could out threat them. I remember a pug I was when where the raid leader didn't invite a dk because he was concerned about threat. I have no doubt in my mind that blizzard will fix bears, but I'm not sure if they'll do it before people reach the first tier of raiding.

The Warrior part you reference was specifically caused by Gormokk, and nothing else. Fortunately for the Warriors they were required for H-Anub, so it didn't end up mattering much.

DK Threat was never really "too low". There were some specs (particularly Blood I think) that struggled with AoE threat. However that was just a byproduct of attempting to have 3 tanking specs in one class. That was just a terrible idea from the start.

DKs were nerfed to the ground about 1/3 the way into 3.1. They were admittedly over-nerfed, but the nerfs were justified. Same with Bears. DKs were fixed by the time 3.2 was out, so I expect if there is a problem with Bear tanks, it will be corrected by the 1st tier or shortly afterward.
I hadn't taken the time to consider how vast an impact these changes have had. The synergy between the bear tanking model, vengeance, and stamina are astonishing. It's distressing to see such changes implimented, while I am happy with normalized tanking CD's, the changes to ILotP and our health may have gone too far. Thank you for starting this thread.

ILotP nerf is in line with other self-healing nerfs. Savage Defense specifically was over nerfed, and they can always turn that back up later if need be (and they likely will).

Alternate Ravage/Shred Macro Help

I've been wondering if anyone knew how to make a macro that uses ravage when its available and shred when you can't; not the one where it uses ravage in stealth and shred out of stealth.
Is this because of Stampede? If it is, I've been looking for the same thing.
Yeah. Since stampede allows for the use of a free ravage for 10 seconds even out of stealth, I was thinking of trying to get a macro like this and using Prowl>Feral Charge>Pounce>Ravage>etc... as an opening. Sure I could just bind them in different keys, I'm trying to cut down on the number of keys I'd have to use by figuring out some macros.
This is impossible, Macro's cannot do something different based off a buff. So you either need to macro Ravage to Feral Charge, which makes the most sense anyways, or just use two buttons.
Easy fix, folks.

#showtooltip
/cast Feral Charge(Cat Form)
/click BT4Button14

Change your button around to whatever you have/want, and voila, a working macro. Kind of sucks that you need to put it on another button at ALL, but hey, it's this or use two buttons.

Blizzard needs to fix it; us kitties are waiting!
I'll have to try that out. I was actually thinking that since it's problematic to do a shred/ravage macro like that, maybe trying a macro where it uses pounce in stealth and ravage out of stealth would work out. Gonna try testing that out in a little. For how I plan on using it, it sounds like a perfect alternate solution so hopefully things go well.

(Follow up edit)
Just tried out my idea, works like a charm.

#showtooltip
/cast [stealth] Pounce(Cat Form); [nostealth] Ravage(Cat Form)

It doesn't make shred and ravage share the same button anymore, but it at least saves some room and still performs the same function I was hoping for.

Feral dps rotations for pve/pvp??

I'm trying to figure out what the best spec/rotation is for both pve and pvp. I want to roll 2's tomorrow with my hunter buddy tomorrow. Feral/hunter sounds like a nice comp right now but when it comes down to rotations its just all mixed up for me.
Well for PVE, I've had the privilege (some would say ordered) to play as a PVE Feral DPS and Tank on several occasions while leveling, though Late Game I primarily do DPS.

If you're DPS Feral, then your rotation is going to be kinda static until you start getting higher. They've eased up on the Cast Rotation a bit, but there's still a lot of stuff.

Faerie Fire (Feral) is too useful, keep it on and try and stack it while your other abilities are on CD.

Shred is your bread-and butter when partied. Adds a Combo point plus gives you a good portion of your DPS. Claw is useful too (especially if your Hunter buddy doesn't have a pet that can Taunt/Tank), and you get too much aggro.

Rip is your best friend. More like it's your Best Man (or Maid of Honor) at your wedding.

A good Rotation that I've used constantly while leveling is: Prowl, *get behind target*, Shred, Claw, Rake, Rip, Claw, Claw, (Faerie Fire Feral when out of Energy in between), refresh Rip and Rake.

This was what I used constantly since Vanilla WoW (I was Feral Spec before it was useful, HA!). Mangle replaces Claw in the rotation, and if spec'd correctly, when you get Feral Charge (Cat), your rotation turns into: Prowl, Pounce (Optional, it stuns, Bleeds), Ravage (Since the spec should have your Ragave not require to be prowling for six seconds after using Feral Charge [Cat]), Shred, Mangle, Rake, Rip, Faerie Fire Feral, Mangle, Tiger's Fury, Mangle, Ferocious Bite, Mangle, Refresh Rip/Rake as needed. For a Spec, You can look at mine, other Druids may not agree where I put points, but it seems to be the one that works best for me.

That's for the DPS, if your Hunter Buddy has a Pet that can Tank. If they don't, I'm afraid I don't have much knowledge on Tanking but I can offer some advice from when I was a Tank for BC dungeons and the rare occasions I have to Tank because ours dies in Instance Runs.

Faerie Fire Feral: Grabs a bit of aggro and lowers armor for your buddie's DPS.

Feral Charge (Bear): Point A to B and interupts (I think).

Bash: Always useful for a Stun.

Savage Roar: Builds a bit of agg if I remember, and lowers enemies attack power in a short radius.

You have two taunts: One's a single target Taunt, the other is AOE, the AOE is useful if a mob starts going after the other members in the party, otherwise the Single Target has a couple second cooldown.

Swipe: Was Spamable, but now has a couple second CD, not as useful as Thrash, but that's higher up there.

Maul: Spam it as fast as you can.

Rotation: I don't have as much experience Tanking, but from what I've done, I'd say a Rotation would look like:

Faerie Fire Feral (Moonfire then Shift if you don't have it, or Enrage+Feral Charge [Bear]), Savage Roar, Maul.

For higher level Tanking I'd say: [b]Feral Charge (Bear), Faerie Fire Feral, Enrage, Savage Roar, Swipe, Maul, Mangle, Lacerate x 3 (Then either use Pulverize, or keep them refreshed), Thrash, Use Bash when needed.

For the Spec. I'd go with: Six points in Restoration like I have: Natural Shapeshiver 2, Heart of the Wild 3, and Master Shapeshifter 1. This increases your damage and survivability in your Bear and Cat Forms.

My build is currently Feral DPS, but the one's that I would say you definatly need:

King of the Jungle and Primal Madness: For Bear, you need Rage to taunt, build and keep aggro, and for Cat form, being able to manage your energy usage is key. Having Tiger's Fury give you instant 60 Energy is indespensible.

Feral Charge: Must have for both forms.

Survival Instincts: Increases survivability by reducing damage.

Thickened Hide: Useful to keep your Armor up in Bear.

Natural Reaction: I can see it's usefullness in some situations.

These are just my thoughts, and as I said, I'm a Feral DPS, but I'm able to jump to Tank if my group absolutely needs it (Tank Deaths suck). Hope it helped a bit.
